Reasons Why Being on Page 1 is Not the End All Be All With SEO

You’ve finally made it to the first page of search results and all of your SEO efforts have paid off tremendously. You’re enjoying the solid influx of traffic, closing more sales, getting more business, and making more money. However, if you stop worrying about SEO now, it could all come crashing down.

Reasons Why Being on Page 1 Isn't the End All Be All With SEO

If you take some time to think about it, your page1 ranking didn’t come overnight. You had to do tons of research, carefully design your website, and make hundreds of posts on social media sites. In fact, you probably even maintained at least one blog just so you could find more opportunities to be authoritative and utilize new trending keywords. Once you’ve made it to the top of the proverbial ladder, you can’t just forget about SEO. If you do, you won’t hold on to your coveted position for long.

SEO Algorithms Change

Being on page 1 doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll stay on page 1, and this is especially true if the search engine makes changes to the algorithms it uses to determine your ranking. One minor tweak – just one – is enough to send you hurtling back down a few pages. For this reason, you should make it a priority to check the news each day to determine if any changes have occurred. At this point, you’ll have to use a bit of trial and error to determine what you need to do in order to get back to page 1.

Trending Keywords Change

The keywords that people use to find things via search engines change all the time. Many, many things influence what people search and even how they search for it on a daily basis. Not only do you need to stay on top of the trending keywords in your industry, but you also need to figure out how current events may tie into your business. Then, when you create blog posts about those events and what they might mean for your visitors, you can keep up with the trends and maintain your position on the first page.

Fresh Content is Critical for Your Ranking

It is vital that you add fresh content to your website regularly in order to stay at the top of the search results list. While you shouldn’t make unnecessary changes to your site or post something new every hour of every day, doing so a few times a week can help. If you manage to update your website with reliable, valuable, and authoritative information, the chances that you’ll keep your page 1 rank – or even climb to the first place position just under the paid advertisements, improve drastically. All in all, SEO should be a constant concern. The way people search for information is always changing, and the way sites like Google rank pages is always changing, too. It is important to stay up-to-date with the latest information and update your site as necessary so that it stays relevant if you want to keep your page 1 ranking.
